The D. P.R.O’s Office, &I Kalahandi is
functioning in its own building since 1996. D.I&P. R.O, Kalahandi as drawing
and disbursing Officer is the authority of this office. This office is
functioned at Dist, Level and at subdivision level on one S.D. P. Ros
office&I is continued at Dharmagarh. The information and Public relation
Deptt serves as a link between people and Govt. This Deptt not only informs the
public on Plans, policies and programmes of the Govt, but also works to ensure
people’s participation in the successful implementation of various
developmental programmes and schemes. Director, P.R Deptt&I are the head of
the Deptt. Based at Bhubaneswar. Deputy Director (Southern Division) I&P.R
Deptt, Berhampur is Zonal and inspecting authority of this office.

Formation / Set Up:
The Department was created originally as a
part of the Home Deptt and was named as Home (Public Relation Deptt). Later it
was separated from Home Deptt on 8Th July 1978 and functioned as
information and Public Relations Deptt till now.

Activities:
This
Office has several functions to do in a year. Apart from organizing Celebration
(National and State Level). Such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Orissa Day,
different Jayanti Gandi/ Shastri Jayanti, D.R.Amedkar Jayanti, Special Day Such
as Vigilance awareness Day, Disaster preparedness’ Day, Anti Terrorism day,
Shahid divas, Communal harmony day, AIDS day, etc, Ratha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra
observed by this office. It has song and Drama, Community viewing scheme,
publicity, exhibitions, films show, news release to press, Advt. Publications,
VIP/ minister programmed protocol/coverage, TV Unit for KBK district, Audit
visual scheme implemented throughout the year. Under this office, are
Information Centre-cum-Reading Rooms at Bhawanipatna, Dharmagarh and Kesinga
functioning and one at Junagarh controlled by Junagarh NAC. The Information
Centre has a significant role in disseminating information and enriching the
intellectual growth of society through library books, magazines, newspaper and
other informative literatures.

Implementation of RTI Act’ 2005 in this D.
I&P. R.O’s office since Jan’ 2006. D. P.R.O Kalahandi is the Public Information
Officer and S.D. P.R.O, &I Dharmagarh is Asst. Public Information Officer
for this Office. Register regarding deposits of cash for seeking information
maintained. Notice board displaying designation and work chart of the employees
displayed at front entrance of this office. Till to date, no application for
seeking information from this office is filled.

office used forms and stationary received from Govt, Press Cuttack. Generally
L-III forms are used for official correspondence.
